According to Nielsen’s law, the speed required by end users will increase by 50% every 12 months, necessitating a network that can cope with ever increasing demand. New technologies like DOCSIS 3.1 and spectrum improvements will help to deliver the required increases in speed over the next decade. A network needs to be better and flexible to drive a 4kQAM DOCSIS 3.1 and 1kQAM DOCSIS 3.1 signal, although typically this increases the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership).

How is TCO reduced?
Capital expenditure (CAPEX)

Operational expenditure (OPEX)
Technetix passives have very low insertion loss requiring less actives and lower output levels which in turn means less amplifiers are required which eliminates adding extra amplifiers and thus eliminates or reduces additional network power consumption.
A repair is a simple module swap; this can be done in the field in seconds compared to a total product swap.
To upgrade a product to a different upstream/downstream split, different gain or from an RF amplifier to a node, it requires a simple module swap that can be carried out in the field in less than 2 minutes with seconds of signal interruption.
Products are designed to facilitate fast and easy installation and easy digital alignment that will reduce installation costs.
Technetix actives have an intelligent power supply with very low power consumption meaning lower energy consumption.
We should not only look to products to drive down costs, we must also look to the network. Technetix has designed an alignment plan optimising the network to create better signals, reducing the need for new products.
According to a recent SCTE/IBSE study, energy consumption is one of the biggest factors for increasing TCO. The image below indicates typical power consumption by cable operators.
It is clear from this illustration, that the majority of power consumption takes place in the network. Technetix is working to create products that are more energy efficient, helping to keep the cost of TCO down.
